The author was invited to the International Agenda Setting Conference in Zurich, Switzerland organized by Media Tenor, in 2010 to present a paper about his book “Deconstructing the Theory of Clash of Civilizations.” The book's main theme was to challenge Professor Samuel Huntington’s theory of the clash of civilizations. The 9/11 terrorist attack against New York and Washington, and the subsequent invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq could have been a perfect test for Huntington’s theory.

The paper explores how the actions of the "Christian West" and the "Muslim East" during these historic events defied Huntington's paradigm. Aziz argues that this decisive moment created a dialogue between civilizations rather than a clash of cultures.
